My Big Mouth Got Us In The Door, & More!

As a hundred plus Twitards made there way to and from Forks this past weekend, quite a few stopped in Seattle to check out Escala, the famous condo depicted in Snowqueens Icedragon ff "Master of the Universe" aka MOTU. Escala is the residence of the enigmatic, gorgeous & filthy rich Edward Cullen. Need a visual?

Oh Fifty....

So on our way out of Forks, Lisa and I had a mission...find Escala.

We found it alright.

This is my "I have had 2 hours of sleep and puffy eyes from departure sniffles" look.

Lisa and her kick ass shirt!

Standing outside didn't seem to be enough for me, so I walked into the lobby and politely asked the lobby gal if she'd mind if we took a few pictures. I told her it was an "inside joke." She didn't seem to mind....that, or she didn't speak English very well. I believe it was the latter.

THE staircase.

What? I couldn't help it!

After our lobby shenanigans, the desk gal told us in broken English that there was an open house going on. Ka-Ching! We made our way up the stairs and all of a sudden something washed over me. It was like I was possessed by Fifty. I asked the real estate agent if there was any way we could see one of the condos, I explained again that it was an inside joke....then when she looked at me funny, I immediately started spewing out the story of how we were Twi-fans, where we'd come from, what ff was and what MOTU meant to us. It was like I had diarrhea of the mouth. Thankgawd the lady found my entire shit storm funny, and offered to let us see one of the unfinished PENTHOUSES!!! [yes there is more than 1] At that point I thought Lisa might pass out. Srsly. Anyhoo, she escorted us up to one of the unfinished pent houses, all the while telling us we could not take pictures. She did however say that we could talk about our experience...she seemed to be intrigued by the entire story.

Once we got to the PH, we were given the grand tour. This particular PH (unfinished mind you) sells for 7.5 million dollars. All of them are customizable...hmm, red room of pain? And believe it or not, the agent told us that one of the occupied penthouses does in fact have a red room. OMG!
;) I can't believe we got to see a pent house. The views of Seattle were utterly breathtaking! Thank you Lisa for being such a good sport and not telling me to shut my trap. I did it for you. Love you.

You can learn more about Escala and see pictures here.

P.S. Robsten spotted on a date night in LA. If you want to see the pics, GO HERE.

  9. I still love that you guys went and did that - you're awesome and balls-to-the-wall. Now, that photos gallery on the Escala website? The third pic of the Penthouse (w/the Grand Piano) is EXACTLY what I pictured! Icy did an awesome job of describing that, since I have never been to the website before!! All of the pictures are like exactly how I imagined. I wish you could have taken pics of the one you saw, but thanks for sharing your story and I bet you & Lisa will never forget that!!! Yay!!

  13. Jen, this will definitely go down as a highlight of my trip. I wish I would have gotten the magnet in Forks that said "I'm in love with a fictional character." Of course, they meant Edward, but it totally would work for Fifty :)

    MISS YOU!!

  17. Crap. I wrote a long-ass comment and cyberspace ate it all. Trying again:

I'm SO fucking jealous right now! I went to Escala on monday, and at least got into the lobby. The concierge told us nicely but VERY firmly to put our cameras away because "This is a private residence and the inhabitants are very specific about pictures not being taken." Hmpf. Little sis manage to take a pic of the lobby without him seeing it, though!

I'm so sending hubby to the Escala website. He's reading MotU now (yay me!) and needs to know where my beloved 50 lives...
